Meridian Health Companion
A patient-facing companion app that works in waiting rooms with no signal.
How we charted it
The challenge
Care plans lived in a portal nobody opened. Meridian needed a mobile app patients would actually use — one that stayed correct even on a hospital basement connection.
Our approach
- 01
Built one React Native codebase for iOS and Android with an offline-first data layer that syncs cleanly when connectivity returns.
- 02
Mapped clinical data to FHIR so the app speaks the same language as Meridian's records system.
- 03
Shipped behind feature flags with store-release pipelines, so new features reach users weekly.
The outcome
The companion launched to a 4.8-star average across both stores, with daily active use far above the old portal and zero data-integrity incidents.
Why this stack
Expo for fast store releases, a typed GraphQL contract, and an offline queue that treats the network as optional, not assumed.
